Mireya Mayor (born 1973) is a wildlife reporter for National Geographic and an anthropologist. She was also a former cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. Before obtaining a PhD in anthropology from Stony Brook University in New York, she was a Fulbright Scholar. On the programme Expedition Africa, Mayor was one of the explorers.
